We baked it ourselves with LOVE

Do you know the feeling when you just need to bake something? Well that's a feeling that we just know all to well here at "Stylemingle Headquarters". So we are going to be posting our lovely baking adventures here ever Sunday. SUNDAY is FUNDAY!!
To start of our feature we decided to spread our LOVE to all you littles ladies (and gents) with our recipe for Red Velvet Hearts! They're really look amazing and taste amazing aswell!

So obviously you start by preheating the oven and buttering your hearts (or just any normal muffinthingy). What we like to do after that is prepare all the ingridients needed so you can just enjoy mixing everything together. This is what we call prepared people!

First of all: In a mixing bowl sift together the flour, salt and cacoa powder. Set aside.

With a hand mixer, beat the butter until soft (about 1-2 minutes). Add the sugar and beat until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes). Add the eggs. Add vanilla extract and beat until combined. (look how gracefully I pour butter into the bowl!)

In a measuring cup whisk the buttermilk (you can also just use "normal "milk) with the red food coloring. With the mixer on low speed, alternately add the flour mixture and buttermilk to the butter mixture, in three additions, beginning and ending with the flour.
The photo bellow shows what the three mixtures look like. But we already put some of the red into our buttermixture.

In a small cup combine the vinegar and baking soda. Allow the mixture to fizz and then quickly fold into the cake batter.

This is just a pretty picture with lots of HEARTS!

And this is what our batter looks like in our heart moulds. Wonderfull
We wouldn't recommend filling the baking dish to the rim as you want your muffins to be puffy and well...they will rise and need there space to do so.

Our hearts baked for around 25-30 minutes. But it usually depends on your oven so try sticking a toothpick in to see if any batter sticks to it. If it clean take 'em out!! they're ready peeps!

So for our frosting: We chose to keep it light and easy so it complements the chocolaty muffins well.
We just mixed cream cheese, with cream, vanilla and a tad of powdered sugar.

Our finished hearts!! we forgot to take a photo of the muffins without our icing but this is what ours looked like just minutes before our guys got to them.

And these are the ingredients you'll need. We find it easier to bake with cups because you can just pick random cups and go with that, depending on how much batter you want to make. Just as long as you always use the same cup for all the different contents.  We found the recipe on www.joyofbaking.com. We love the site!!
